Karl Van Cura started Midwest Design Group out of his Sioux City home in 1995. Having been drawn to the area through work for the Dakota dunes Development Company, Karl realized Siouxland’s need for a landscape design studio that stresses client freedom and cost-effective design, and a unique process of linking landscape design with construction. With that vision, MDG has quickly grown into the local choice for community, business and residential landscape design.

Before coming to Sioux City, Karl worked at Thompson Dyke & Associates in Chicago and Edward D. Stone Jr. & Associates in Durham, North Carolina and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Karl has degrees in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University (BLA) and Kansas State University (MLA).
